Take a few minutes to get to know us before you come into the office!

DrHolsteen

Dr. Holsteen is a 1977 graduate of Louisiana State University and a 1982 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. Following his dental training in Kansas City, he completed a hospital residency program with the Veteran’s Administration in Topeka, Kansas, before moving to Colorado Springs to set up private practice. When he’s not at the office, Dr. Dan can be found officiating local high school track meets, skiing the steep stuff, or searching high and low for the best barbeque, Mexican food and blues guitar music around.

Clinical Team

Kari brings her hygiene skills to our office on Thursdays when she comes down the mountain to join us. Her years of experience in a periodontal office and her bright smile are an important part of our hygiene department and we’re so glad that she continues to make the trip each week—rain, snow, or sunshine! Kari is a Kansas girl at heart, but she seems pretty happy to be making Colorado her home these days.

Paula, our chairside assistant, is the extra pair of hands and eyes and ears that help Dr. Holsteen to take such good care of our patients. Paula’s love of dentistry, her tender heart for our patients’ needs, and her attention to detail and organization help to keep our days running smoothly and our spirits high. Paula’s hometown is in the Azores, and we love that she shares her love of her hometown and her Portuguese culture with all of us!

Diana is the newest member at Mountain Shadows Family Dentistry and is a great addition to our hygiene program! She is a rare find—a Colorado native! Diana graduated from the dental hygiene program at Pueblo Community College and has been caring for the dental needs of her patients for over 25 years. Her gentle touch, delightful laugh and friendly manner have helped our patients to feel welcomed and relaxed during their hygiene appointments in her operatory. Diana enjoys getting out of town with her husband to do some camping in our beautiful mountains when summer time comes and she shares Dr. Holsteen’s love of blues and rock and roll.

administrative-1Administrative Team

Robin is our patient care coordinator and practice administrator. As our PCC, she assists our patients with their scheduling, insurance, and account needs while keeping us organized and on task every day. When she’s wearing her PA hat, she likes to say that her job is to do for our practice whatever no one else wants to do. We think there may be a little more to it than that, but whatever it is that she does, her efforts on behalf of our patients and team are greatly appreciated.

Jackie, our office manager, handles the bookkeeping and financial management aspects of our practice as well as many of the necessary details that allow the rest of us to do our jobs each day. Jackie is also a Colorado native who grew up in Colorado Springs and has made it her home most of her adult life. She may be behind the scenes much of the time, but without her we’d be lost.
